Residents reminded to exercise from home during lockdown

Denbighshire County Council is reminding residents of Welsh Government regulations to only exercise from home.

The Council has been working with North Wales Police to ensure people comply with the regulations not to travel for exercise in line with Alert Level 4 restrictions.

The car parks at Loggerheads Country Park and Moel Famau, as well as the roads leading to Moel Famau, are currently closed.

Cllr Tony Thomas, the Council’s Lead Member for Housing and Communities, said: “We are asking people to follow the guidance to stay at home during the current lockdown and to only exercise from home.

“Welsh Government regulations state your exercise should start and finish from your home and you should exercise alone or with a member of your household or support bubble.

“We have been working with North Wales Police and a number of people attempting to visit Loggerheads Country Park and Moel Famau and other sites have been turned away or fined and the roads to Moel Famau remain closed.

“We understand this is a difficult time and everybody is keen to enjoy the countryside but we are asking people to stay away for a bit longer to help reduce the spread of coronavirus and keep our communities safe.”

The visitor centre and cafe at Loggerheads Country Park and the tea rooms at Plas Newydd are currently closed.

Regulations state that people with specific health or mobility issues may need to travel from their home in order to be able to exercise.
