LLANDEGLA RECTORY ASSOCIATION AND THE BEAUTIFUL GAME
Well, we tried and failed, but we ain’t givin’ up!!!!!!
Many of you will know that last year the Llandegla Rectory Association, (LRA), offered to fund the re-establishment of Llandegla Youth Club and initiatives to support Scouting, Guiding and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
With these objectives in mind, we organised a series of tester sessions facilitated by Denbighshire Rural Youth Team, culminating in a Kids’ Fun Day, organised by Rachel Muia and friends. The objectives were not only to test what kids wanted from a youth club, but to reach out to any parents who would be prepared to run the facility for their youngsters.
Sadly, no-one was prepared to take this on, so no Youth Club in Llandegla. Sad! But, we ain’t giving up!
So, anyone know anything about football? Anybody out there ever thought they would like to be a manager, or have the knowledge to coach a team?
Well, many clearly do. In this area alone, almost three thousand youngsters, boys and as many girls, from five to eighteen, in 27 community clubs regularly train and play each other in Wrexham Junior Football League. Dads and Mums like you, give up their precious time and skills to give their youngster the opportunity they crave – TO PULL ON THAT SHIRT.
Are you one of these special ones? Could you manage Tecla’s Tigers to footballing glory? Are you willing to step forward?
If two or three of you are prepared to step forward the LRA will support you on your path to glory. We will fund badge taking, equipment and kit and ensure you have a place to train and play.
GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO! STEP UP TO THE PLATE! YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A MOVIE STAR TO RUN A FOOTBALL CLUB NOW’S YOUR CHANCE!
JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!.

To date, the Association has provided funds to help ensure continuity of worship and pastoral care within Llandegla, part funded a planned local Wildlife extension to the displays in the Village Visitor Centre, hosted by the Church and provided much needed additional teaching resources for the Village School.
Presently, the Association is looking at the possibility of
re-establishing a programme of activities for young people within the
Village. Research has shown that,
currently, whilst there are some 50 young people between 10 and 18 years living
within our community, no organised activities/events are available, locally,
for them. The LRA is keen to provide
some financial support for such an initiative, but the objectives cannot be
realised without the help of those willing to come forward and organise and
manage the activities.
If such help became available, many exciting things might be possible -
- the re-establishment of a Cubs, Brownies, Guides, Scouting group within Llandegla
- the re-establishment of a regular youth club
- the engagement of Denbighshire County Council Rural Youth resources that would bring a Team to deliver a programme of youth work activity in the area
-Youth Work team to come in and deliver activities at one off events or community festivals etc. throughout the year.
- Support and training for any volunteers who may want to be involved in a voluntary youth group.
- the possibility of expanding after school/holiday clubs
LRA can provide funding to help with such projects, but without people power to make it happen, it can’t happen.
Are you prepared to step up to the plate and give your young
people in Llandegla the same opportunities enjoyed elsewhere? If so, contact – Fraser Robertson on 01978
